The right decision is sometimes the hardest decision.

These past few weeks, I’ve been wrestling with God. He told me to move, and I’ve been so hesitant to listen because of how much this decision could hurt others. I think many of us experience this same choice every day. We know God is closing a door, calling us somewhere else, or even telling us to stay put or opening a new door, but we put it off because we’re afraid of hurting someone, change, etc. If this is you, keep reading!!

The right decision is sometimes the hardest decision you make. The right decision usually sets forth change that you or others in your life are just not ready for. Sometimes the right decision hurts people you care about, is scary, and requires blind faith. But that doesn’t mean God isn’t still calling you to it.

Abraham knows this better than anyone. In Genesis 22, God spoke to Abraham and instructed him to sacrifice his son, Isaac. I can only imagine how hard it was for Abraham to listen to God because this is most certainly not what he would have thought God would ask of Him. He was stuck. Stuck between a decision of obeying God and knowing that God does all things for good, or saving his son. Abraham knew he needed to do the very thing he didn’t want to do; he went up to Mount Moriah to sacrifice Isaac. At the last second, God intervened, and Abraham did not have to sacrifice him. This was a true test of faith, which Abraham passed.

Most of the time, God isn’t calling us to move in the way He called Abraham, but would we be able to say we could move with blind faith like he did? Probably not. Honestly, moving with blind faith is hard. Abraham knew his actions would hurt others and himself, but he had complete faith that God would work all things for good. This story is such a great reminder that God calling us to move calls us to place undeniable trust and faith in Him and His next steps for us.

This story brings so much comfort to those of us who God is calling us to or from something! I don’t know what God is calling you from today. Maybe it is a job, relationship, or friendship, or maybe He’s calling you to a new job, new relationship, or new friendship. Whatever it may be, God is not calling you to move for no reason. He wants you to have complete faith that He will provide! There are so many amazing things He could be setting you up for. Maybe you’ve worked so hard at a certain degree, and God is asking you to pursue a different one in your senior year. Maybe you’ve dreamt of moving, but God is asking you to stay in your hometown. God often places us in situations for us to show how much we really trust Him. Do we trust Him with our money? Our careers? Our families? Our future? Is God asking you to move in a way that seems too difficult or impossible?

I’ve been brought to Proverbs 3:5-6 so much as I’ve wrestled with this big decision, and this little comfort reassured me that I am absolutely moving in the right path! Though God might be closing some doors for me, He has already shown me so many doors He is paving the way to an opening for me. It was always up to me to trust that His timing is absolutely perfect. Moving when He calls without faith is impossible, but moving knowing He holds the ending of our story makes all things possible!

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.”

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭3‬:‭5‬-‭6‬

Whatever He has called you to move to or from today, TAKE THAT JUMP! It might be scary at first, it might require lots of sacrifices, and it might hurt people, but everything that happens is for His good good plan!
