What God Has Been Teaching Me Lately

This week’s blog is going to look a little different than usual. As I was racking my brain, talking to God, and praying about what our blog topic should be this week, the only thing I could think of was reflection—not just on the topic of reflection but on what God has been teaching me this summer. Through this reflection, I developed this simple list. I know this blog isn’t long, but I know this is for someone today!
Lately, I’ve reflected on all the lessons God has taught me throughout my summer. Some of them have come through hard seasons, some through friendships, and some through quiet moments with Him. Each lesson feels like a reminder that He’s still shaping me, still guiding me, and still writing my story with His goodness.
I wanted to take this reminder to you. To remind you that no matter what season you currently find yourself in, Gos is still writing your story!
Here are a few things He’s been teaching me lately:
1. The importance of boundaries.
Not every job, friendship, or situation is meant to stay in your life forever. God has been teaching me that stepping back isn’t always unloving, it can be the most loving thing we do, both for ourselves and for the other person. “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” Proverbs 4:23
2. The beauty of accountability.
I’ve learned to treasure friends who don’t just say what I want to hear, but who call me higher. God uses the right people to remind us of His truth when we forget it. “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.”Proverbs 27:17
3. Grace for myself and others.
It’s easy to carry shame from past mistakes, but God keeps reminding me His mercies are new every morning. Grace isn’t a one-time gift…it’s the air we breathe as His children. “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning.” Lamentations 3:22-23
4. Strength in weakness.
The moments I feel weakest are often the moments God shows His strength most clearly. I don’t have to be perfect, I just have to lean on Him. “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” 2 Corinthians 12:9
5. Trusting His timing.
Even when I feel behind, overlooked, or forgotten, God’s timing is never late. He has a way of reminding me that His plan is steady and good. “He has made everything beautiful in its time.” Ecclesiastes 3:11
6. Renewing my mind with truth.
It’s easy to get caught up in lies: fear, rejection, comparison. But God is teaching me to fight those lies with Scripture. “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind.” Romans 12:2
7. The power of His presence.
There’s nothing more grounding than sitting in God’s presence. Approval from people fades, but peace in Him lasts. “In Your presence there is fullness of joy.” Psalm 16:11
8. Redefining friendship.
Not all friendships are meant to last forever, and that’s okay. God gives us relationships for seasons and for shaping, and the ones He ordains will help grow us in faith. “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor.” Ecclesiastes 4:9
9. Contentment in hidden seasons.
Being unseen doesn’t mean being forgotten. Some of God’s deepest work happens in the quiet, hidden places. “Your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.” Matthew 6:6
10. Living with eternity in mind.
At the end of the day, this world is temporary. God keeps teaching me to focus on what will last: loving Him and loving people. “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.” Colossians 3:2
Every season comes with its own set of lessons. Some are gentle reminders, others stretch us more than we want, but all of them shape us to look more like Jesus.
I don’t know what God is teaching you right now, but I do know this: He is always speaking, always leading, and always faithful to finish the good work He began in you.
