how can you expect to hear God when your bible is closed?

I take 2 allergy medicines. i’m not sure what they each do, but I know that if I don’t take one or both, i’ll be sick the next day. currently experiencing this right now... 🥲this goes for any medicine. if we don’t take them as prescribed, how can we expect to get better? by just looking at it on our nightstands? no!
now think about your relationship with God. if you don’t open your bible daily, how can you expect to hear Him? it’s like medicine. you have to take in His word as prescribed if you want to heal. you need to spend daily time with Him to hear His plan and feel His peace. you cannot expect to hear God when you’re not even putting in the effort!
there are so many verses where He tells us that if we draw close to Him, He will draw close to us. James 4:8 says, “Come near to God, and he will come near to you.” This verse is saying that the more we spend time in His word, the more involved in our lives He is! He is available to us at ALL hours! One of my favorite verses I use when explaining this concept is Jeremiah 29:13. it says, “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” seek Him, and He will heal you. just like if we take medicine!
I could go on and on with verses, but I think you get my point! you must seek Him to reap the benefits! you have to want a relationship with Him and work towards it. He will meet you exactly where you are right now. just open that bible! when you do, be prepared for all the blessings He will bestow on your life!
