How sick satan must be…

May is mental health awareness month, and I didn’t want it to go by without writing something in honor of it. I read a poem called “How Sick Satan Must Be” by Shelby Zaks. I am attaching it here because I think it’s something we should all read.

The first time I read this poem, I cried. I honestly think it’s because I’ve been there. I have felt hopeless and lost and thought that a mental illness defined who I was. The lies of satan can eat us down until we feel like nothing, until we feel like it never gets better, and until we feel like people would be better without us. Notice I said lies. Meaning none of those statements are true!

Let me tell you first that your feelings are valid, and if you need to sit in those feelings, please do, but don’t remain stuck in them. Don’t let them make you believe it will always be like this. It gets better. You will get through this. You are only in this time for a season. Light is at the end, and you can make it with God! Cling to the fact that, He made you in His image and He thinks you are beautiful, loved, special, purposeful, fearfully and wonderfully made!

Overcoming mental illness is never easy. To those who have ever been through a mental illness or are currently experiencing one, I am praying so hard for you. To those who have loved ones who lost their battle with mental illness, know you are in my heart and prayers. If you or someone you know needs help, please DM me, seek support through doctors, therapists, and counselors, stay close to your people, and TALK TO GOD! Lean on Him! Trust me. He WILL bring you out🤍
