life isn’t always pretty. today, it’s so easy to expect a completely “perfect” life because of the things we see on social media. we see that girl that went to Europe for the summer, or that girl that had a fairy tale wedding, or that girl that’s traveling the world and we think that we’re living our own lives wrong. we’re comparing our paths with someone else’s because in our eyes that is how we should be living. what we don’t see is that girl that is going through heartbreak, or that girl who is struggling financially, or that girl who is dealing with family problems or even loss.
we all go through hardships. we may not show the whole world our hardships, but we all have them…including those girls on instagram you compare your own life to. it is easy to think that in a time of hardship God has abandoned you because of how “amazing” other’s lives seem and if that is you right now let me introduce you to a man named Job.
Job is the definition of “when it rains it pours.” he had everything and had nothing. he went through some of the worst tragedies and still he never lost faith in God. Job did challenge God and His justice one time. only once. out of all the tragedy He only questioned Him once and he immediately repented because He knew to have faith in God. Job’s friends were anything but loving and supportive and projected their own sin and insecurities on him, but Job didn’t need those people. God was always enough for Him. he never compared his life to those friends bc he knew he was on a different path….no matter how tough.
life will never be “perfect” and we will always have times of struggle. no matter what those times of struggle look like for you please know God loves you and He is there. He will take all the things the enemy meant for bad and use them for good. no matter how amazing those girls lives may seem on social media please never forget that instagram is just a highlight reel. everyone is going through something. be appreciative of where He has placed YOU and don’t let social media and the enemy cloud your mind from His promises!
