I was burnt out.

pursing ministry is probably one of the most rewarding and challenging things i’ve decided to do with my life. don’t get me wrong I’m so blessed to be called to such an amazing path, but it’s hard.

I study the bible quite a bit in every single class I take. I absolutely love it, but I noticed I was using that as an excuse not to do my daily devotionals and prayers. I would say “well i’ve already spent time with God today because I studied my Bible.” same goes for leading in ministry. I would say “well technically I already spent time with God because I poured out into this person today.” I realized I was starting to experience burnout and make excuses as to why i’m not reading my bible.

as a ministry leader, most people expect you to have all the answers, be the perfect person, and have the most perfect relationship with God. while helping others and learning new things about the bible is def my fav part of ministry, it can sometimes cause burnout. then, if I am not spending my own personal time with God, I am not pouring back into myself, and i’m not giving ministry my 100%

spiritual exhaustion happens. even to ministry leaders. we fail sometimes. we get tired sometimes. we aren’t on our “a game” sometimes. if this is you, ministry leader or not, you’re not alone. burn out happens. it doesn’t mean you’re a bad christian, it just means the devil is at work and it’s time to give it God!

spend that quiet time with Him even if you’re tired. prioritize Him. wake up earlier if you have to. fall back into your routine no matter how long it’s been. He knows you’re tired. He’s ready to give you peace🤍
