love never gives up

“Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away.” 1 Corinthians 13:4-8

God has a pretty specific definition for love and what love is. the part that’s stands out to me the most is “love never fails”. if it does fail then we can know that it really wasn’t love.

that’s a hard pill to swallow sometimes. we get so caught up in the beauty of a friendship or relationship that we ignore what God tells us love is. love is not just a word, it is a thing to posses. how do you posses love and project it to others? GOD. let me explain. for us to truly posses the ability to perform the behaviors of love we must first know that God is our source of love. He allows us to possess the qualities mentioned in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 and in turn we can project those on to one another!

so, let’s get back to those relationships and friendships. why do you think I said that if love does fail then we know it really wasn’t love? God was not the source of the “love” you projected or they projected on to you. if God is not the source, the “love” will fail. remember, ALWAYS PUT HIM FIRST IN YOUR RELATIONSHIPS and watch how it flourishes!

love is not just a word that you say to someone it is a feeling and actions that are presented to us through God. When God is our source of love IT WILL NEVER FAIL BECAUSE IT IS ETERNAL!
