the bible is not a chore

bible time was my favorite time. I loved to sit down at the start and end of my day and just spend time with God. I would intentionally take time to know Him and Feel His love, in turn I could project this love on to others!
lately, I have been treating my quiet time with God like a chore. i’m thinking, “oh no I still have to read my bible before I can get my day started and I just don’t have time” or it’s 2am and i’m late getting to bed thinking, “oh no i still have to read my bible and do my bible studies”. I was treating the bible like an inconvenience, not my daily bread.
I feel like this is a common problem. we’re always on the go and thinking of the next thing to be done, that we forget about the present and how important it is to spend intentional time with the Lord. the bible is not a chore. it’s not something to dread trying to squeeze into my day. bible time is what makes my days and nights better. it keeps me accountable and keeps me focused on Him, His plan for me, and my relationship with Him.
if you are rushing to fit the bible in, take some time and consider. would Jesus rush His time with you if you needed to speak with Him? would Jesus reschedule with you because He just didn’t have time today? no. He listens intently every time we spend time with Him. it’s time for us to do the same. stop treating our bible like a chore and more like a meeting place to speak with Jesus EVERY DAY.
“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart” Jeremiah 29:13
