The Election from the Eyes of a Christian

I wasn’t going to touch the election with a 10-foot pole. I wasn’t going to write about it. I wasn’t going to talk about it. Nothing. I use my blog for Christian encouragement, and though I do have my B.A. in Political Science, I tend to veer away from the topic in relation to Christianity. I didn’t feel like they belonged together. This election year has proven to me tenfold that these two relate more than I thought.
Before you come at me with your pitchforks, make comments about which candidate to vote for, or send me hate, please hear me out because this post might surprise you. Or not. Regardless, read this with an open mind and an open heart ready to receive what God has revealed to me throughout this election cycle.
The most common theme of this election is that we have allowed hate to be normalized and weaponized to scrutinize each other. It truly hurts my heart to see us so divided. The devil has done exactly what he seeks to do: kill, steal, and destroy. He has divided us in a way that we haven’t been divided in quite a while. Though this divide isn’t the end to our story because God will ALWAYS win!
I am not here to tell you who to vote for. I commend each of you for using your right to vote for the candidate you believe will help this country the best. What I am here to do is remind you about the importance of love.
Love is the greatest commandment, as Jesus said in Matthew 22:34-40. He tells us that we must first love God and then love our neighbor. Not just love our neighbor but love our neighbor as ourselves. That includes those who vote for a different candidate than you. That includes Trump and Harris. That includes Vance and Walz. That includes the person behind the video you saw on TikTok. That includes absolutely every single person you meet, see on social media, etc.
When we have such a divide as a society, it’s common to forget love. Like I said, I’m not here to sway you to one party or the other. I’m here to encourage you to face this election with love. Vote for the candidate that God has called you to vote for, vote in a way that upholds the values God has called us to, pray for the peace and prosperity of BOTH candidates, love your neighbor, and don’t allow this hate to control you.
You are a son or daughter of the King. God is not shocked this is happening in our country. He knew it would. Hold on to the fact that God is with us each step of the way. No matter what happens with this election, God is bigger. No matter who wins, God is bigger. We have to pray for the candidates, love them, and want the best for them regardless of if the one we voted for wins or not.
Please remember I am not here to talk about who you voted for. I am here to simply remind us in a time of division to love. My page is not and never will be a political page. I am simply here to support you, love you, and encourage you through His word🤍
