to the one who feels like God isn’t there

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”

Galatians 6:9

there have been times in my life when I’ve prayed and prayed and prayed for something, but it felt like God was silent. I’ve made the mistake of losing faith, and let me tell you, that’s not a fun path to go on. if you’re in a season of waiting and starting to feel like God isn’t there, keep reading because this one’s for you!

when we pray, oftentimes, we expect God to answer us right then and there. when He doesn’t, we tend to feel discouraged and disappointed. let me be blunt real quick, God isn’t a magic genie. He isn’t here to grant your every wish. He is here to lead us on the right path, love us, and much more!! so way better than a genie!

You may feel like God isn’t there for many reasons, so let’s talk about them! the first reason is because He’s making you wait. you’re feeling this “silence” from God because you’re not truly listening. there is always purpose in the waiting; ask Him to reveal it to you! The second reason is because you’re not TRULY listening. now, I don’t mean to call anyone out here, but are you honestly getting in your word daily? are you studying your devos? Are you worshiping? are you genuinely trying to connect? or are you only praying when you want or need something? it can be hard to hear God if we’re not actively going to the places where He is the most prevalent! keep Him close to your heart, and start listening! the final reason I’m going to talk about is testing faith. God may be testing our faith and ability to follow Him blindly. have you asked God to help you deepen your faith? Have you asked Him to help you be at peace following His plan? if you’ve answered yes, He could be answering a prayer you never knew He was answering! check out the story of Abraham and Isaac if you don’t believe me (Genesis 22)

to get a little personal, I waited two years for an answer to a prayer I felt was necessary at the time. looking back on it, I'm so glad that God didn’t let me have what I thought I wanted because what I received is abundantly better than what I kept praying for! though my prayer went “unanswered”, I knew He had a plan and that His silence was my chance to grow. I placed unanswered in quotes because what I thought was a rejection was simply a redirection! I am beyond grateful for this waiting and growth that I wouldn’t have otherwise!

now, these aren’t all the reasons you may feel that God isn’t there, and if there’s one you thought of, I didn’t say, comment down below!! my point here is to make you see that even in the waiting, God is near. even if you’re distant, God is near. even during our hard times, God is near. pray for the ears to hear and the heart to listen! He hears your prayers! there is a reason for your waiting.
