why does God let bad things happen?

this is a question I was faced with when completing a survey assignment and I had absolutely no idea how to answer this. after much research and reflection I think I can finally answer why bad things happen, so if you’ve asked this question keep reading!
the answer to this question is located in Genesis. when God made us He gave us free will. that means He allows us to make our own decisions. now, I know you’re going to say, “well what if that person didn’t make the decision for that bad thing to happen” I hear you and you’re right. many people abuse this free will and often times the flesh and the enemy take over thoughts and hearts. therefore, that person made the wrong decision to do that bad thing and hurt someone else. so, why does God let it happen?
God has a bigger plan. what the enemy tries to use for bad God turns to good. I know you’re thinking, “what good could come from a bad thing?” I honestly don’t know and we will never know in every situation. what I do know is that there will always be a light at the end of the tunnel. God uses every trial for your good. these trials allow us to grow and prepares us for the path God has for us. He is always there through every trial. take the red sea for example. God did not MOVE the sea, He offered a way THROUGH the sea! trials help shape us into all we are called to be! I know I am eternally grateful for some of my own that I never thought I would find a way out of! those trials brought me here, writing to you!
I know some people have HARD trials. some people are cruel and they choose to make cruel decisions. I am not saying that trusting God is easy. I am not saying that it won’t hurt. I am definitely not saying it won’t take time and possibly therapy to heal from. what I am saying is that God uses these moments for purpose. He loves you. I know it can be hard to grasp but He does. so much. He is right there waiting on you to ask Him to show you the way! bad things happen because we are free to make our own choices just as our neighbor is. no matter how bad the situation is God WILL use it for good. He WILL bring you out of it. YOU WILL OVERCOME IT🤍
